Patient Numbers

Since opening in 1993 Kwale District Eye Centre has gone from strength to strength thanks to help and assistance from many sources.

To date over 38,000 patients have registered at the centre and over 17,000 operations have been carried out.

Most of the operations are cataract extractions with intraocular lens (IOL) implants, which restores sight.

The tables below contain detailed statistics on the work carried out by the Eye Centre from 2003 to the end of 2007; 2006 was a busy but difficult year, due to the appalling weather conditions.
